CHANDEEN
1990
· Oliver Henkel and Harald Löwy form Chandeen in Frankfurt am Main.
1991
· Aline Akbari joins as the band’s first vocalist. Shortly after, they release their debut tape, Circles of Silence, as a self-released tape.
1992
· Antje Schulz joins as a second singer. The band releases The Twilight Crossing, a two-part tape series. In November, Chandeen takes the stage for the very first time in Bensheim.
1993
· Aline Akbari leaves and is replaced by Catrin Mallon. The band signs with the renowned German label Hyperium Records and heads into the studio with producer Axel Henninger to record 18 tracks.
1994
· Their debut album, Shaded by the Leaves, is released worldwide via Hyperium/Rough Trade, marking their first major breakthrough in the scene. That autumn, Oliver and Harald retreat to a remote house in Denmark to compose what would become their second album, Jutland.
1995
· Released in February, Jutland becomes one of the most acclaimed albums of the year, followed by the singles „Ginger“ and „Strawberry Passion.“ Soon after, Oliver Henkel and Catrin Mallon depart. Stephanie Härich joins as the new second lead voice. The EP Light Within Time drops in October, featuring their first-ever music video, filmed in Frankfurt’s Japanese Garden. The year ends with their first major tour and a performance at the very first WGT in Leipzig.
1996
· The third studio album, The Waking Dream, hits the top of the indie charts. A sold-out tour alongside Black Rose, La Floa Maldita, and sToa follows.
1998
· Chandeen signs with SPV. In the studio with Axel Henninger, they produce Spacerider – love at first sight. The title track becomes a massive indie hit, prompting plans for a major music video. Florian Walther officially joins the band.
1999
· The band travels to Stuttgart to shoot the video for „Skywalking“ with Erste Liebe Produktion. The clip enters heavy rotation on MTV and VIVA 2, being named „Tip of the Month“ on MTV Hot. They receive a nomination for the German Video Award, perform live, and appear as guests on NBC Giga.
2002
· Bikes And Pyramids is released, once again produced with Axel Henninger, but this time via the band’s own label, Kalinkaland Records. They return to NBC Giga for a live performance of „One Way Love.“
2003
· Stephanie Härich leaves the band. Antje Schulz and Harald Löwy record Echoes in their own studio. The album is released on Kalinkaland again. Chandeen plays to a sold-out Schauspielhaus Leipzig at the WGT, supported by Steffen Keth (De/Vision) on keyboards.
2004
· Antje and Harald decide to put Chandeen on hold. No further releases are planned for the time being.
2008
· Chandeen returns with Teenage Poetry. Julia Beyer is introduced as the band’s new voice, and US-based Mike Brown joins Harald Löwy and Florian Walther as a permanent band member.
2011
· The album Blood Red Skies is released, dedicated to Mike Brown, who passed away shortly before. The band shoots a haunting video for „Shadow’s Fade.“
2014
· Collaborating with Emily Lazar (NY), the band releases Forever And Ever. A big release party is held at the Nike Temple in Weimar, featuring the premiere of „The Wild Unknown“ video.
2018
· The holiday album Winter Reverbs is released, featuring the Ghost Choir Weimar, conducted by Antje Löwy.
2020
· Chandeen returns with Mercury Retrograde. Alongside Julia Beyer, the album features several guest vocalists, including the UK’s Holly Henderson. Four music videos are released, one is premiered by the US entertainment magazine Billboard.
2024
· Harald Löwy moves to Malmö, Sweden, to produce the next chapter of Chandeen alongside producer Joakim Lindberg.
2025
· The band releases The Last Glimpse Of Your Life, featuring Chris Richter on vocals for the entire album. Later that year, they drop the singles „A Crack in the Ice“ (featuring Harald’s daughter, Marlene Löwy) and „Glitter & Trauma“ (with Julia Beyer). In late 2025, Harald and longtime friend Steffen Keth record new material with Florian Walther, once again produced by Joakim Lindberg in Malmö.
2026
· The years starts with the release of the new album, Bittersweet Dance Club.
